Lisa Dawley

SHELTER MANAGER

Shelter Manager, Lisa Dawley became a permanent resident of Martha’s Vineyard in 1983, following four generations of Island family residence.

In 1986, Lisa’s love of animals found her working for Dr. Atwood at Animal Healthcare in West Tisbury; where she became a Veterinary Technician and eventually Hospital Administrator. Lisa has been the manager of the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard since its inception in May of 2009 and continues her education of programs regarding shelter mangement.

Lisa lives in Vineyard Haven with her dog Nellie and her cats Leo and Ruby.

Tayla Delaive

TEAM MEMBER

Team Member Tayla DeLaive has a way with animals. 

 

She came to visit the island in 2018 and intended to only stay for the summer. However, she has now been here ever since! She has been a lover of all animals since a young child and has endless examples of experience working with them. 

 

Tayla started volunteering at the shelter in 2020 and quickly became a permanant member of the team after fostering several kittens and visiting the shelter religiously every Tuesday and Wednesday. 


 

Gordon Healy

TEAM MEMBER

Team Member Gordon Healy came to Martha’s Vineyard in 1991, after years of working in the field of computer science.

His love of animals began at a very young age, taking after his Grandfather who was a well-known farmer in Easton, MA.

Over the years, he has spent much of his free time caring for his friend’s animals; horses, chickens, dogs and cats. Gordon worked part-time and volunteered at the shelter until he became a full time employee in 2012. He lives in Katama with his dog Heidi.
